Michael Hamson Oceanic Art Oceanic Art
Michael Hamson Oceanic Art Gallery showcases artworks from Oceanic Cultures.
Biography
Michael Hamson started his career as a field collector, making forty six trips into the most remote areas of New Guinea.
He combined this experience with a Master’s degree in Oceanic and African art history from the Santa Barbara University in California, providing an academic and aesthetic background.
In the last eleven years, Michael focused exclusively on sourcing his material from great collections in the US, Europe and Australia.
He now uses the energy once devoted to field collecting to crisscross the globe, hunting for the oldest and most beautiful Oceanic art fresh to the market.
