This mask by the Bron-Guro Master – for over 50 years part of the renowned Kofler-Erni collection and during this time part of influential publications and exhibitions – is a highly important work of Guro art. The Bron masters’ oeuvre, defined by Eberhard Fischer in his recent publication, is small and can be characterized by expressive and voluminous forms, which is very well visible in this artwork; a very fine Guro mask of great rarity and quality that is carved by this distinguished and early Guro master.
