The family Schoffel-Valluet opened its first gallery devoted to tribal art in 1969. The gallery is closely engaged with the antiques market and has earned international renown, contributing directly to the creation of numerous important private and public collections. The gallery extends its expertise to the arts of Oceania, Africa, North America and South-East Asia and it has participated in numerous art exhibitions including ‘Jackson Pollock and shamanism’ at the Pinacothèque in Paris in 2008 and ‘Return from expedition’ at the Museum of Hunting and Nature in 2012. It has exhibited at BRAFA since 2011 and has participated in ‘Parcours des mondes’ since the fair began. It has also organised thematic exhibitions such as: ‘Clair-Obscur de Jean François Chavanne’, September 2008; ‘War and Peace’, September 2009; ‘South East Asia’, June 2010; ‘Victor Brauner and the primitive arts’ with the Samy Kinge gallery, October 2010; ‘Musical instruments’, January 2012 and ‘The Ivory Coast: sculpture’, December 2012.
