The Morakuti pichhvais are used in the temple at Nathdwara and elsewhere during the monsoon season. Morakuti is a small village in Braj near Barsana, in modern day Uttar Pradesh, the legendary home and birth place of Radha - Krishna's consort. The Morakuti pichhvai is filled with dancing peacocks. It is associated with the rainy season because at the first clap of thunder, the peacock spreads his magnificent tail feathers for the courting dance – his shrill cry and handsome feather display attracts the peahen.
